Origin/History: The Nocturne Alliance, founded in AC 213, was originally located at the Earth's Seven Cities cluster, but after the area's destruction the Alliance capital was later moved to a newer and more secure area farther down the North American East Coast-at Hope City. The city itself consists of one large metropolis surrounded by rural and suburban areas situated in a fairly temperate climate zone, with hot summers and cool winters. Originally known as the "last stand of democracy," the Alliance is a democratic organization of militaristic, civilian/citizen, and factory colonies ruled over by an elected Congress. In the wake of the Apocalypse War, NA faced the task of reforming its armed forces as well as rebuilding the colonies and bases it lost during the long and grueling conflict. For two years now it has been neutral from factional disputes, but as the Second Empire threatens to expand its influence beyond Europe, neutrality is becoming increasingly difficult. As far as the military goes, the NA doesn't have as many soldiers under its command as it did before the Apocalypse War. But a lower number of troops doesn't mean that the faction's military is in any way weaker. Its pilots are some of the most highly skilled and trained, and the military leadership consists of many seasoned war veterans who have seen the face of combat multiple times throughout their lives. The Alliance's military uses suits and parts provided by HALO Industries and other well known robotics and weapon companies, ensuring that the faction gets high quality suits and armaments to use. The elite task force run by the NA is the Midnight Faction. Up until the battle at Megiddo, its commanding officer was Gabriel Fox. But when he retired, another highly skilled pilot was chosen to take his place-Lieutenant Colonel Evan Emmerich. This special forces team consists of both naturals and newtypes alike; a perfect symbol of the demographic composition of the Alliance itself. The NA mobile fleet consists of several large battleships, carriers, tactical cruisers, and destroyers-all heavily armed and ready to deploy at a moment's notice. In the civilian sector of the organization are several agencies that are worth noting for both their involvement in the successes of NA's military forces and their importance to the citizens of the alliance themselves. The Alliance Bureau of Investigation functions much like a federal law enforcement agency, and is in charge of enforcing NA federal law as written by the NA Congress. The ABI frequently joins forces with the Midnight Faction and the regular army to complete such missions as drug interdiction, unlawful commerce control, and civil defense against terrorism. The Alliance Security Agency functions much like the NSA of the old United States, in that it specifically deals with encryption protocols within communication as well as several forms of code-breaking. Perhaps one of the biggest organizations within the Alliance is the Nocturne Alliance Department of Intelligence, or NADI, which is charged with intelligence gathering, espionage, and research of enemy facilities and equipment. Not much else is known about operatives of NADI, who keep their status secret from everyone outside of the organization, except for the fact that the agency maintains a direct link to various sectors of the Midnight faction and even has several offices within MF facilities that are responsible for military intel gathering. Though it lost some territory to the rise of faction independence, and is significantly smaller than it was before the war, NA still is still considered a powerful organization.
