Origin/History: Its original founding date unknown, the Russian Federation had been assimilated into the Empire around the time of the Second Moon War, but when the Empire later fell apart the entire Russian portion descended into anarchy. It wasn't until the year AC 220 that the citizens of this nation decided to end the terror and disarray, and join the Nocturne Alliance.

Although throughout the L1 Trade War, Russia didn't get itself completely involved in the conflict, it still provided aid to its Alliance partners when needed. In AC 231, Russia filed peacefully for independence from the Alliance, and their request was granted. They were reclassified as a Republic, a new parliament was elected, as well as a new president.

With help from HALO Industries, Anaheim Electronics, the Zeonic Company, and from other members of the Alliance, Russia rebuilt and strengthened its military and jumpstarted its economy. (It also reverted back to using Zeonic-type suits, rather than stick with Federation-type ones that it used when members of the Alliance; just as a distinguishing feature.) Life in the Federation was peaceful, until AC 232 came around. The renewed Chinese Empire began an extensive territorial expansion campaign, with potential targets that included several territories under Russian control. Learning of the Chinese plot, the Russians boldly stated in a public news conference that whosoever attempted to take territory away from them would "drown in a pool of their own blood." From that day forward tensions built between the two nations, and the risk of war became increasingly inevitable.

In an effort to shore up its defenses, Russia formed an alliance with both NA and the revolutionary group Liberty Revolution. Defensive outposts were placed at every strategic point along the Republic's borders, and the Russian Republican Air Force patrolled the skies daily-just in case the Chinese chose to move in with an invasion.
