History in the Making: Onward into the Light of Dawn

AC 230.
Humanity had finally escaped the risk of annihilation from the Machine hordes. As it seemed, we had overcome the seemingly inevitable-the end of all things, known as the Apocalypse. After successfully convincing the Machines to understand that humanity was worth the life it had been so graciously given, they retreated to Jovian system, to exist on their own and hopefully without human intervention. As for the petty L1 Trade War, it completely dissipated, with the Nocturne Alliance and the Shinter agreeing to share the resources of this colony cluster for the benefit of all. Leaders from both sides, once bitter enemies, agreed to sign a nonaggression treaty, in order to hopefully avoid creating another war where the survival of the entire human race would be at stake. We had finally achieved peace, even though it took us a violent war to do so. Yet, as has been proven over and over again throughout the evolution of human history, mankind always repeats its mistakes…

AC 231.
The bloody end of the Battle of Armageddon, now referred to as the Day of Reckoning, left most of the world in shambles. No major sovereign nations remained standing in its wake, and virtually all organized government bodies were eliminated. It was a conflict like no other; it caused even the most experienced and most spirited soldiers to lose the taste for war. And at the center of the postwar "peace" era were individuals, cast into anarchy, without allegiance, leadership, or direction.

However, Europe seemed to stand out from the other continents as the widespread destruction it sustained left its citizens as the perfect subjects for a dictator's control. It just so happens that a dictator is exactly what Europeans received.

Many referred to him simply by the name Grand Marshal. His real name, on the other hand, was Heinrich Bosch, a defector from the disbanded German branch of the Nocturne Alliance, and a leader of the Empirical Liberation Front. Obsessed with ushering in a new era of earth sphere dominance, Bosch and the ELF found that the best opportunity to accomplish their goals lay right in front of them-shattered Europe.

The ELF began by amassing money and resources, and soon commenced construction of a mobile armada. Using the stolen technology of HALO Industries as well as technical help from Anaheim Electronics and several other big players in the robotics world, this task was completed without much difficulty. As a result, the ELF quickly gained numbers, and began spreading its influence abroad. By September of that year, as the ELF was almost in complete control of the continent, it was renamed as the Second Empire (SODOM), and selected Bosch as its leader.

Around the same time that SODOM gained control of Europe, other organizations began to form. From the ashes arose groups such as Sangre o Libertad, the Neo-African Consortium, and the Arabian Syndicate-all with the goal of unifying the specific demographic they represented, and give hope to all that were thrown into disarray.

AC 232. Present Day.
The dawn of the new future of mankind. The growing power of SODOM is threatening to turn the already high tensions felt by nations surrounding the organization's territory into a full-scale war. But what of the other factions that emerged from the darkness soon after Europe was under Bosch's grasp, as well as the space colonies?

The answer will only be found as time progresses, for political differences and social ideologies will have an increasing detrimental effect on the state of peace in the Earth Sphere. Territory and manpower, as it seems, are destined to become the ultimate bargaining chips, the definitive determining factors of international power and defensive/offensive capability.

The possibilities are truly endless, and anything can happen.
