Technical and Historical Notes: The F71 G-Cannon, developed by the Earth Federation Forces' Strategic Naval Research Institute and manufactured by Anaheim Electronics, was introduced in the early UC 0120s and was considered both a distant descendant of the RX-77 Guncannon series used during the One Year War and a mass-production version of the SNRI's F90S Gundam F90 Support Type recently developed as part of the "Formula Project". The G-Cannon's primary armament was the pair of large 130mm machinecannons on its shoulders. While intended to be used as a fire support unit, the machinecannons could be removed, leaving the G-Cannon still well-armed enough with vulcan guns, beam guns, and beam sabers, and thus able to maneuver and operate as a good general purpose/close combat unit. When the Crossbone Vanguard force began to conquer Frontier Side in UC 0123, several G-Cannons were among the deployed Federation Forces that fought in vain to repel the invasion.
